Duquesne (9-3) completes the non-conference portion of the 2022-23 schedule - as well as a stretch of nine-straight home games - when Winthrop (5-7) visits UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 2:00 p.m. (ESPN+).
The DU/Winthrop game will be preceded by the DU women vs. Howard at 11:00 a.m.
The Dukes, who defeated Indiana State, 92-86, on Saturday, enter the Winthrop game looking for their tenth win of the season. DU has entered conference play with 10 wins just three times in program history (2008/10-3, 2016/10-3 & 2020/10-2), the last of which came under current head coach
Keith Dambrot.
This is the third of four-straight road games for Winthrop, which is coming off an 89-81 loss at LSU on Saturday. The Eagles come to Pittsburgh looking to snap a seven-game non-conference road losing streak.
Winthrop, which has won three of the past six Big South titles, was picked to finish second in this year's preseason poll.
Duquesne, which is 8-2 at home this season, is 24-7 in non-conference home games - including wins at four different "home" venues - since 2018-19.

- This is the last of nine-straight home games for the Dukes, whose next game will be their Atlantic 10 opener at Dayton on Dec. 28.
- DU, which averaged 65.2 ppg. last year, is averaging 76.8 ppg. (+11.6 ppg.). The Dukes have topped the 90-point mark three times and are 5-0 when scoring 80 or more.
- DU's assists per game average is up +5.0/g. from last year (from 10.0 to 15.0).
- DU's .369 3-point pct. is its best under Keith Dambrot (current is .350 in 2017-18).
- Guard Jimmy Clark III, who played as a freshman and sophomore at VCU, has scored 16, 19, 16, 13 & 17 points in DU's past five games. Clark's DI career-high entering the season was nine.
- Guard Dae Dae Grant, who has scored in double digits in 11 of 12 games - including the past nine in a row, is shooting .432 from 3-point (38-of-88). Grant, who has three games with five or more 3-pointers, ranked 25th nationally in 3-pointers/g. (3.17) and T13th in 3-point FGs (38) thru Sunday. The Winthrop game will be Grant's 100th.
- Austin Rotroff has come off the bench to lead the Dukes in rebounding in seven times. The 6-10 forward ranked first nationally in offensive rebound percentage (per KenPom) through Sunday.
- Tevin Brewer has handed out a team-high 28 assists despite missing three games due to injuries. Brewer leads the A-10 in assist/turnover ratio (3.1-to-1). He is averaging 12.0 ppg. (8-of-12 from 3-point) in his past three games. Brewer has missed the past two games due to injury.
- Freshman Kareem Rozier has come off the bench to lead, or tie for the team lead, in assists four times. Rozier has 27 assists and six turnovers this season.
- Senior Joe Reece is averaging 14.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in his past three games. Reece missed four games, and one-fourth of another due to an injury. He came back on Dec. 8 vs. Marshall.
- Sophomore Quincy McGriff is averaging 8.5 points and 3.0 assists as a starter in DU's past two games.
NOTABLE
- It took the 2022-23 Dukes - with a roster that features 10 newcomers (five transfers and five freshmen) - just eight games to exceed last year's win total (6-24).
- Duquesne, picked to finish 15th of 15 teams in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, tied the school record for November wins set in 2008 and matched in 2020 (both 6-0). DU went 6-1 in November, with the lone loss coming at No. 4 (AP) Kentucky.
- Duquesne's 66-55 win over DePaul on Dec. 14 was the program's first over a Big East school since an 86-82 victory over West Virginia on Nov. 25, 2002 at A.J. Palumbo Center. The margin of victory was DU's largest over a Power 6 school since a 78-52 win over Penn State (Big Ten) at CONSOL Energy Center on Nov. 20, 2015 (under Jim Ferry).
- Ten Dukes (Brewer, Clark III, Dixon, Grant, Hronsky, McGriff, Reece, Rotroff, Rozier & Williams) have posted double-digit scoring games on the young season.
- DU has erased first half deficits of 14 (vs. Ball State, down 18-4) and 16 points (vs. Indiana State, down 20-4) points to win this season. The Dukes have 19 double-digit comeback wins under Keith Dambrot (all have come in the past four seasons).

- Duquesne is 12-2 all-time - including a 7-1 mark at home - against the schools that comprise the current Big South Conference. The Dukes have won nine in a row over Big South schools, including back-to-back neutral site wins over Radford in Akron, Ohio:
- Winthrop, located in Rock Hill, S.C., competes in the Big South Conference. The Eagles, who were picked to finish second in the Big South preseason poll, have won at least 23 games in each of the past three seasons and are looking for their third-straight Big South title.
- Winthrop is in its second second under head coach Mark Prosser. Mark is the son of the late Skip Prosser, a Pittsburgh native (Carnegie),who was a highly-successful head coach at both Xavier and Wake Forest.
- Six-seven junior forward Kelton Talford leads the Eagles in both scoring and rebounding (18.4, 7.7). Talford ranked 3rd nationally in field goal percentage (78-103, .757) through Sunday.
- Duquesne's Keith Dambrot is 9-1 all-time vs. the Big South (3-0 at Duquesne), with the lone loss coming at Winthrop when he was head coach at Akron (68-58 on Dec. 4, 2007).

- Duquesne used a balanced attack to rally from a 16-point first-half deficit - and eight-point deficit with 11:07 to go - to pull out the win.
- Five players scored in double figures for the Dukes who shot .621 in the second half (.517 for the game).
- Second-year Indiana State transfer Tre Williams led the way with 19 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks against his former team.
- Jimmy Clark III (17), Joe Reece (16), Dae Dae Grant (15) and Kareem Rozier (career-high 10) also scored in double figures for the Dukes, who posted their second-highest point total of the season.
- It was the 19th time Duquesne came back from a double-digit deficit to win under Keith Dambrot (second time this season).
- Duquesne's largest lead was nine, at 88-79, with :33 left ...
