PITTSBURGH -
Joe Reece and
Dae Dae Grant scored 15 points each as Duquesne (8-3) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 66-55 win over DePaul (6-5) on Wednesday night at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
The Dukes held the Blue Demons to 30.9 percent shooting - and 22 points below their scoring average - in posting their first win over a Big East team since an 86-82 victory over West Virginia on Nov. 25, 2002.
DePaul, making its first visit to Pittsburgh to face Duquesne since 1990, saw its series win streak snapped at five.
Jimmy Clark III had 13 points, a career-high eight rebounds and a pair of steals for DU.
Duquesne, which never trailed, built a pair of 10-point leads before closing the half with a 9-2 run to take a 34-21 advantage to the locker room.
DU held DePaul to .241 shooting and turned it over just two times in the opening 20 minutes.
The Dukes extended their lead on a 3-pointer from Clark III that made it 42-24 and forced the Blue Demons to burn their third timeout of the game a little over three minutes into the second half.
DePaul, on the strength of four 3-pointers, cut the lead to 50-40 with just over 11 minutes left and pulled to within single-digits at 50-42 following a 9-0 run.
Tre Williams ended the run - and a nearly five-minute scoring drought - with a jump hook that just beat the 30 second clock.
DU got back on track, getting a bucket from Reece and a Grant 3-pointer to survive the run and build the lead back to 60-44.
Reece scored eight in a three-plus minute span to fuel the Dukes.
DePaul would get no closer than 11 the rest of the way.
The Dukes held the Blue Demons, who entered the game averaging 77.1 ppg., to a season low 55 points.
Duquesne plays its eighth of nine-consecutive home games when it hosts Indiana State (9-2) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (ESPN+).
