Duquesne, which upped its record to 2-1 with a 96-71 win over South Carolina State on Monday, heads to Ohio to face Colgate (3-1) at Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School's LeBron James Arena on Friday, Nov. 18 at 6:00 p.m. (no live stream).
This is the fourth time the Dukes are playing a neutral-site game in Akron under sixth-year head coach
Keith Dambrot, who led St.Vincent-St. Mary - and a young freshman/sophomore LeBron James plus current associate head coach Dru Joyce - to back-to-back state titles in 1999-00 & 2000-01.
Dambrot, an Akron native, led the University of Akron - his alma mater - to 305 wins and three NCAA Tournament appearances in 13 seasons prior to moving on to Duquesne. In 2018-19,
DU defeated Radford, 69-64 at STVM and in 2019-20 the Dukes took down the Highlanders, 71-49 at Akron Ellet High School. Last year Duquesne returned to LeBron James Arena to defeat UC Irvine (76-54). As part of the trip, the Dukes will make a visit to James' I Promise School on Thursday afternoon.

- Colgate, which went 23-12 in winning the Patriot League with a 16-2 record last season, was picked to repeat in a preseason vote of league head coaches and SIDs.
- 6-foot-5 senior G Tucker Richardson (20.8, 4.5, 14 3-pointers) was named Patriot League Preseason Player & Defensive Player of the Year. Richardson is the only player in program history with over 1,500 points, 400 assists, and 300 rebounds.
- Colgate returns 10 players - including three starters - from last year's team.
- 12th-year head coach Matt Langel has led Colgate to the NCAA Tournament in three of the past four years.
- The Raiders, off to a 3-1 start, hit a school record-tying 19 3-pointers in convincingly defeating Syracuse, 80-68, at JMA Wireless Dome on Tuesday. Richardson led Colgate with a career-high 30 points (8-of-12 from 3 point).
- Duquesne is 43-14 all-time against the schools that comprise the current Patriot League.

TRENDING

LAST GAME: DUQUESNE 96, SOUTH CAROLINA STATE 71
Nov. 14, 2022 • UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse • Pittsburgh, Pa.
- The 96 points were the third-most the Dukes have scored under Keith Dambrot (a 101-94 3OT win over La Salle on Jan.13, 2018 and a 97-48 win over Delaware State on Dec. 9, 2017 are numbers one and two).
- Thirteen players scored and 10 registered at least one assist in the win. In addition, seven players hit a 3-pointer as DU went 11-of-27 from the arc.
- The Dukes finished with 21 assists and 11 turnovers.
- Duquesne's 51 rebounds, 25 second-chance points and 52 bench points were all Dambrot Era highs.
- Dae Dae Grant led the Dukes with 14 points and six assists.
- Jimmy Clark III's 13 points and four rebounds were both career highs.
- This was Austin Rotroff's first career double-digit rebound game (11). His previous career high was nine vs. New Hampshire last year.
- R.J. Gunn went 3-of-6 from the arc in scoring nine points off the bench. Grant also finished 3-of-6 from deep.
- The Dukes finished with eight dunks, including three from Clark III.
- Duquesne, which led from start to finish, had a largest lead of 34 at 80-46 with 8:38 left.
DU, which opened the season with a pair of 1,000-point scorers in R.J. Gunn Jr. (1,183 at D-II Lenoir-Rhyne) and
Dae Dae Grant (1,171 at Miami, Ohio), could finish the year with as many as five 1,000-point scorers as
Kevin Easley Jr. (needs 135),
Tevin Brewer (needs 232) and
Tre Williams (needs 262) all have a realistic shot at reaching 1,000 in 2022-23. The last time DU had three players with 1,000 points on the floor at the same time was in 1998 (Kevin Price, Mike James and Nick Bosnic). Duquesne has never had four players with 1,000 points on the floor at the same time.
