PITTSBURGH - Duquesne lacrosse head coach
Corinne Desrosiers today announced the Dukes' 16-game 2022 schedule.
Duquesne opens the season with seven non-conference contests highlighted by matchups with a new cross-city foe in Pitt in addition to a pair of home tilts against Big 10 opponents in Ohio State and Penn State.
The Dukes begin the 2022 campaign with the Panthers' inaugural women's lacrosse game on Friday, Feb. 11 at Highmark Stadium in Station Square.
Duquesne then commences the home portion of the schedule with the Dukes' second first-time opponent in a row, hosting Youngstown State on Monday, Feb. 14 at Arthur J. Rooney Field. Duquesne hits the road to face another opponent from the Mid-American Conference (MAC) at Kent State on Feb. 18. This will be the second meeting between the Dukes and Golden Flashes after Duquesne posted a 22-6 win over Kent State in 2021.
The Dukes return home to welcome Penn State to The Bluff on Feb. 23 in the teams' 10th all-time meeting and first since 2020. Duquesne then travels across the Keystone State to battle Bucknell on March 2. The Dukes are 10-2 all-time against the Bison and currently own a seven-game winning streak against Bucknell.
Duquesne then begins a four-game homestand, wrapping up the non-conference schedule hosting Ohio State on March 9 and Butler on March 20. The Dukes dropped a slim 11-9 decision in their last meeting with the Buckeyes in 2020 in Columbus while Duquesne topped the Bulldogs 16-8 in the teams' only other meeting in 2019.
The Dukes open their nine-game Atlantic 10 slate with a pair of home matchups against Saint Joseph's on March 25 and defending A-10 champion Massachusetts on March 27 in Pittsburgh.
Duquesne heads south for three consecutive contests at Richmond (April 1), VCU (April 3) and Davidson (April 8) before capping the home portion of the schedule with La Salle on April 10 and George Mason on April 14. The Dukes travel to our nation's capital to face George Washington on April 16 before closing the regular season at St. Bonaventure on April 23.
The Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted by Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. is set to take place April 28 through May 1.
Desrosiers enters her fourth season at the helm of the Duquesne program, helping the Dukes earn an A-10 Championship berth in 2019. Duquesne is coming off a 4-5 season in 2021.
