Duquesne Wins Second Straight with 16-7 Victory over Bonnies

PITTSBURGH - Rilee Bradshaw found the back of the net six times while Michaela Connolly and Maddie Hart each recorded hat tricks to lead the Duquesne lacrosse team to a 16-7 victory over St. Bonaventure on Sunday morning at Arthur J. Rooney Field. 

The Dukes win their second Atlantic 10 contest in a row to improve to 4-2 on the season and 3-2 in conference play, while the Bonnies fall to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in league action. 

After St. Bonaventure took a 2-1 lead with a Rebecca Howe goal just over seven minutes into the game, Duquesne responded with 12 straight goals to gain a 13-2 advantage into the second half. Ten of the Dukes' goals came during the opening half of action. Bradshaw had four goals during the run while Tina St. Clair, Hart and Connolly added two goals apiece. 

Courtney Fox stopped the Dukes' scoring spurt with a goal for the Bonnies, when Connolly and Bradshaw each scored to put Duquesne on top 15-3. 

St. Bonaventure would close the game on a 4-1 run for the final margin. 

Bradshaw matched a career-best with six goals, a figure she has reached twice this season. Hart and Connolly each netted three goals an an assist while Hart recorded a game-high seven draw controls to go with three caused turnovers and three ground balls. 

St. Clair had a pair of goals after scoring a career-high five goals in the Dukes' win over La Salle on Friday. 

Julianna Hamilton scored her first goal of the season for Duquesne while Jillian Caroselli found the back of the net for the Dukes, as well. 

Carlee Braverman and Emily O'Donnell each dished out an assist in the victory while Sydney Reed added three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Freshman Rachel O'Toole picked up the win in goal for Duquesne, making three saves. Lauren Bonino and Mady Pierselak each recorded a save for the Dukes. 

Duquesne outshot St. Bonaventure 41-18 including 35-12 in shots on goal. The Dukes held advantages of 23-11 in ground balls and 13-12 in draw controls.

Howe led the Bonnies with two goals.

Duquesne travels to UMass next Sunday, April 18 for a noon contest in Amherst, Mass.
