OLEAN, N.Y. - Carlee Braverman scored a game-high five goals to lead Duquesne to a 15-8 victory over host St. Bonaventure in the Dukes' Atlantic 10 opener on Friday afternoon at the Marra Complex.
Duquesne jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead 10 minutes into the ball game with two goals apiece by
Rilee Bradshaw and
Maddie Hart.
The Bonnies would slow the Dukes' scoring attack for the remainder of the half, answering with a 5-2 run of their own into the second frame, cutting Duquesne's advantage to 7-5.
The Dukes responded with four straight goals, two coming from
Michaela Connolly to put Duquesne on top 11-5 with 9:36 to play.
St. Bonaventure minimized the deficit to 11-7 with two consecutive scores, before the Dukes sealed the win with four of the next five goals to close out the contest, including three from Braverman for the final margin of 15-8.
The five goals represented a career-high for Braverman.
Bradshaw recorded four goals for the Dukes, while Connolly netted a pair of goals to go with two assists. Hart also added a pair of goals as well as team-highs of five draw controls and four caused turnovers for Duquesne.
Bailey Springer registered her first career goal in the win, while
Jillian Caroselli also found the back of the net for the Dukes.
Duquesne held a 29-22 shooting advantage in the victory, the Dukes' fourth-straight win over the Bonnies.
