PITTSBURGH - Duquesne (1-7, 1-7 A10) fell to Atlantic 10 preseason favorite Dayton (8-1, 5-1) 3-0 on Friday at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

Maria Mosbacher led Duquesne with five,
Summer Slade added four. Slade also had DU's lone service ace.
Anita Parrott had a match-high five blocks for the Dukes.
Hailey Poling paced DU with 13 assists.
The set scores were: 25-16, 25-13, 25-15.
The Dukes and Flyers will meet again tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. (ESPN+) in DU's regular-season finale. It will be the final home match for seniors
Claire Boe and
Maria Mosbacher who will be honored in a pre-match ceremony.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Duquesne ended a 3-0 Dayton start with an Anita Parrott kill. Summer Slade put one away to make it 6-3 early. A block by Alayna Yates followed by a service ace gave the Flyers a 12-4 lead which led to a Duquesne timeout. UD extended its lead to 15-5 before the Dukes scored back-to-back points to make it 15-7. DU scored a pair of points off Brittne Weigand serves to make it 17-10. Another Slade kill made it 18-11. A Slade ace pulled the Dukes within six at 21-15. UD put the set away on Jamie Peterson's fifth kill.

- Dayton jumped out to a 7-1 lead forcing a Duquesne timeout. The Dayton lead reached 13-3 before DU made it 17-8 on a Slade kill. Duquesne scored three points in a row to make it 20-12. UD scored two straight as DU called its second timeout with the score 22-12. UD went on to finish off the set. Dayton had four aces and five blocks in the set. Slade had a pair of kills for Duquesne.

- Duquesne made it 7-3 on an attack error, before Dayton scored four-straight points to take an 11-3 lead. Camryn Thomas followed a DU timeout with a kill to make it 11-4. A Maria Mosbacher kill cut the UD advantage to 11-5. The Dukes scored three points in a row to cut it to 14-8 on a Dayton attack error. Blocks by Mosbacher and Anita Parrott make it 15-11. DU was within three at 16-13 following another UD attack error after a Weigand serve. Dayton answered with the next five points as Duquesne took a timeout down 21-13.
