Dukes go 6-3 at NEC Meet #1

The 17-ranked Dukes went 6-3 at NEC Meet #1 over the weekend at Clearview Lanes in Mt. Joy, Pa.

DU, which faced #20 Fairleigh Dickinson, LIU and St. Francis Brooklyn on consecutive days, went 3-0 in traditional matches, 2-1 in baker matches and 1-2 in best-of-seven baker matches over the three-day event.

On Friday, the Dukes posted their second-highest traditional match score of the year in their meet-opening 1049-973 win over FDU. Junior Jessica Cadez led DU with a 241. Freshmen Shannon Small and Brenna Gleim added a 225 and 204 respectively. The Knights came back to take the baker match 1077-907. In the best-of-seven baker round, DU jumped out to a 2-0 lead, only to see FDU take the final four games to win 4-2.

Duquesne bounced back to go 3-0 vs. LIU in Saturday's matches. Allison Hresko rolled a 206 to pace the Dukes' 911-837 traditional win. DU followed with a 979-860 victory in the baker match. In the best-of-seven baker round, Duquesne took the first three games in a 4-2 win.

The Dukes got a 247 from Kiearra Saldi in opening Sunday's play with a 979-928 traditional match win over St. Francis Brooklyn. DU followed with a 1003-912 baker win, before falling the in best-of-seven baker match, 4-2.
