PITTSBURGH – The Duquesne women's basketball team was knocked off 67-55 by Temple in a non-conference game at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse Sunday afternoon.

Megan McConnell (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) registered her second double-double of the season in the loss. She finished with a balanced line of 13 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Fatou Pouye (Kaolack, Senegal/Glasgow Christian) posted a team-high 14 points with five rebounds.

Temple (5-3) was in front throughout the first quarter and held a 14-11 lead after the first 10 minutes. The Dukes got baskets from Pouye and
Amaya Hamilton (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) to start the second quarter to take their first lead of the day at 15-14.

After the Owls knotted the game up, Duquesne got back-to-back buckets, including a basket-and-one by
Halle Bovell (Hamilton, Ontario/St. Mary's) that made the score 20-15 with 5:52 to play until halftime.Temple responded with a 12-4 run to put the Dukes in a 27-24 hole with under three minutes on the clock. Duquesne answered back with eight-straight points to close out the half, including a McConnell trey near the horn that sent the Dukes into halftime with a 32-27 lead.

McConnell scored the first points of the second half to increase the Duquesne lead to seven, 34-27, its largest lead of the afternoon. Temple chipped away at the Dukes advantage and eventually went out in front 37-36 with 4:15 to play in the third quarter. Duquesne managed to take the lead once again on a three pointer by Pouye in the final minute, but a response triple by Temple put the Dukes in a 46-44 hole heading into the fourth quarter.

Libby Bazelak (Kettering, Ohio/Bishop Alter) tied the game at 51-51 with a three-point shot at the 7:25-mark of the fourth quarter. Temple went on its biggest run of the day, a 12-3 spurt, to take a 63-54 lead with three minutes to play in the game. The Owls continued to pad their lead down the stretch to pull away and snap the Dukes' three-game winning-streak.
Duquesne finished shooting 20 of 61 (33 percent) from the field, including 5-of-27 (19 percent) from three-point range. Temple went 23 of 52 (44 percent) and converted 3-of-10 from beyond the arc.

The Owls also held the edge on the free-throw line. Temple was 18 of 22 (82 percent) at the charity stripe, compared to the 10 of 19 (53 percent) showing by the Dukes.

American Athletic Conference Preseason Player of the Year Mia Davis led all players with 22 points for the Owls.

The Dukes will travel to Kent State on Wednesday, Dec. 8 for their only road game this month. The game will tip at 7 p.m. and broadcast on ESPN+.
