Laia Sole (Igualada, Spain/IES Joaquim Blume) and a three-point shot by Myers quickly rebuilt the lead to 26-16 with 7:35 to play until halftime. The Dukes went on a drought for nearly seven minutes, but the Leopards also had offensive issues and did not take advantage. McConnell knocked down a trey in the closing seconds of the half to give Duquesne a 30-20 lead at halftime.
The Dukes' lead dwindled down to six, 30-24, a minute into the second half. Duquesne answered with 12-straight points, including a McConnell steal that led to a basket-and-one, to push the cushion back to 42-24 with 5:15 to play in the third quarter. The Leopards controlled the second five minutes of the third with an 11-3 spurt to draw back within 10, 45-35, entering the final period.
Lafayette got its deficit down to 47-39 at the 6:22-mark of the fourth quarter, but the Dukes did not allow them to get any closer. Duquesne out-scored the Leopards 13-7 down the stretch to secure its first win of the season.
