LORETTO, Pa. – Five Duquesne players scored at least three goals as the Dukes earned a 20-13 victory at Saint Francis U in a non-conference intrastate matchup on Wednesday afternoon at DeGol Field. The Dukes even their record at 2-2 with the triumph while the Red Flash falls to 1-3 on the season.
Rilee Bradshaw (Middletown, Md. / Middletown),
Carlee Braverman (Laurel, N.J. / Lenape) and
Michaela Connolly (Sykesville, Md. / Century) each recorded four goals for Duquesne while
Kirsten Barnes (Brielle, N.J. / Manasquan) and
Maddie Hart (Sykesville, Md. / Century) netted two goals apiece.
Emma Eberly (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) had a goal for the Dukes, and freshman
Jillian Caroselli (West Islip, N.Y. / West Islip) registered her first career goal to go with an assist in the win.
Duquesne jumped out to an 8-1 lead highlighted by three goals by Connolly.
The Dukes extended its advantage to 11-2 on Bradshaw's second hat-trick of the year, with just under seven minutes to go in the opening half.
Saint Francis responded with four straight goals to cut the deficit to 11-6 at the break.
Duquesne scored four of the first six goals out of the locker room, including two each from Braverman and Barnes to push the score to 15-8.
After the Red Flash answered with a goal, Hart found the back of the net twice to give the Dukes their largest lead of the afternoon at 17-9 with 18:41 showing on the clock.
Saint Francis countered with four of the next five goals to minimize the margin to 18-13, but Connolly and Caroselli each netted goals to close out the victory for Duquesne.
Hart dished out two assists to go with a game-high 11 draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
Sydney Reed (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) matched a game high with four caused turnovers with four ground balls.
Bradshaw and
Elizabeth Petrosky (Lititz, Pa. / Manheim Township) each dished out an assist for the Dukes while
Alana Piano (Brockport, N.Y. / Aquinas Institute) tallied three caused turnovers.
Maddy Curtis (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) made eight saves and picked up four ground balls for Duquesne.
Emileigh Scott had a game-high eight goals to lead the Red Flash.

The Dukes travel to The First State next Wednesday, March 4 to battle Delaware at 3 p.m. It will be the first meeting all-time between Duquesne and the Blue Hens.
