Duquesne (18-6, 8-4), coming off a 59-54 win at Fordham on Sunday, returns home to face George Washington (11-14, 5-7) on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at PPG Paints Arena. The game is the second of a doubleheader preceded by the Duquesne women vs. Rhode Island at 5:30 p.m. The Dukes, whose win at Fordham completed a series sweep, enter Wednesday's game looking for a series sweep of the Colonials as well. Duquesne matched its longest series win streak, with a 66-61 victory over GW in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 11. DU has never defeated George Washington six-straight times. Duquesne is 9-2 at home (3-1 at PPG) despite playing at three different venues due to renovation work to the on-campus UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. GW is 2-7 on the road.

TRENDING
  • Duquesne's 18-6 start is the school's best through 24 games since 1971-72 (19-5 on the way to 20-5).
  • This is just the third time in 43 Atlantic 10 seasons that DU has eight wins in its first 12 conference games.
  • The Dukes are holding opponents to 64.1 points per game - the lowest opponent average in 58 years.
  • The Dukes rank 9th nationally - and first in the A-10 - in blocks/g. at 5.83. DU is fifth in the nation in block percentage (16.3 according to KenPom).
  • Duquesne is 20th nationally and first in the A-10 in fewest fouls per game (15.0).
  • Junior Marcus Weathers' (team-high 14.7 ppg.) 16 traditional three-point plays are the most by a Duke since Aaron Jackson converted 20 in 2009.
  • Sophomore Sincere Carry is DU's second-leading scorer at 11.4 ppg. DU is 14-2 when Carry, DU's assist leader at 5.0 apg., hands out five or more assists. Carry has 33 assists (eight turnovers) in DU's past four g.
  • Junior center Michael Hughes ranks 6th nationally in blocks per game (2.92) and 8th in block pct. (13.23 according to KenPom). DU is 8-1 (4-1 in A-10 play) when Hughes blocks four or more shots.
  • DU is 13-4 all-time (7-2 this year) when junior Tavian Dunn-Martin hits three or more 3-pointers. Dunn-Martin  is averaging 14.6 ppg. in his past five g.
  • Grad transfer Baylee Steele is averaging 12.7 ppg. in DU's past three games. It is the first time this year he's put together three consecutive double-digit games (10, 15 & 13). He has made 73.9% of his two-point attempts (17-of-23) over that span.
  • DU, on the strength of Dunn-Martin and Steele, is averaging 29.4 bench points in its past five games.
  • Under Keith Dambrot, DU is: 43-3 when leading with 5:00 left ... 40-11 when scoring 70 or more points (12-1 this year) ... 35-3 when the first to 70 points in a game ... 35-7 when holding opponents under 70 (16-0 this year).
  • The Dukes have won nine of 11 at home while playing at three different venues (PPG Paints Arena, D-III La Roche University and Robert Morris). DU has been displaced by season-long renovation work which is being done to the on-campus UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. Duquesne has had to board a bus for 20 of its 24 games this season (La Roche is 10 miles from DU's downtown campus & Robert Morris is an 18-mile trip). Duquesne is 36-13 in home games under Dambrot, including a 23-7 mark over the past two seasons. The Dukes are 10-4 in A-10 home games over the past two seasons.

A DU WIN WOULD ...
  • Give the Dukes their best overall record since 1971-72 (20-5 final record that year).
  • Mark the third time in 43 seasons that DU would have at least nine wins in 13 A-10 games (1981 & 2011 are the others).
  • Would clinch DU's 10th .500 or better record in conference play. It would be the first time since 1980 (7-3) & 1981 (10-3) that Duquesne had back-to-back .500 or better A-10 seasons (DU was 10-8 last year).
  • Mark the first time since 1971 (21-4) & 1972 (20-5) that Duquesne had 19 or more wins in back-to-back seasons (DU was 19-13 last year).
