@DuqMSoccer Extends Win Streak to Four

Dukes Defeat Cal Baptist 2-1

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne extended its win streak to four with a 2-1 win over Cal Baptist on Rooney Field. Zach Hall (3') and Moritz Kappelsberger (33') scored for the Dukes who moved to 4-0-1. The loss dropped Cal Baptist to 1-4-1. Robbie McKelvey finished with six saves for Duquesne which is off to its best start since 2014 (3-0-2). The Dukes return to action on Wednesday when they hit the road for the first time for the short trip to Moon Township, Pa. to face Robert Morris at 4:00 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Zach Hall got the Dukes on the board in the third minute when he gathered a pass from Nate Dragisich and put it by keeper Albert Escuin. It was the second goal of the season for he DU senior.
  • DU made it 2-0 when Moritz Kappelsberger converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute. Kappelsberger's goal, the third of his career - and first this season, was set up when DU's Jack Shearer was taken down in the box by Escuin.
  • McKelvey made a save on a point blank shot from CBU' Tete Vacas in the 44th minute.
  • The Lancers made it a one-goal game when Vacas, who had a game-high four shot on goal, scored off a Nicklas Haakenstad pass in the 50th minute.
  • Cal Baptist finished with a 17-11 advantage in shots, including 8-6 on goal.
  • CBU had seven corners to three for DU.
  • The two teams had five shots on goal each in the opening 45 minutes.
  • Duquesne's four-game win streak its longest since 2016 (also four games).
  • This is the first time DU has opened undefeated through five matches since 2014 (3-0-2).
