PITTSBURGH - Duquesne, behind a career-high 30 points
Tavian Dunn-Martin, rallied from a double-digit deficit for the eighth time this season to defeat Massachusetts, 80-73, at the Palumbo Center.
With the win, the Dukes (19-10, 10-6) tied the school record for Atlantic 10 wins in clinching the school's sixth winning record in 42 seasons of A-10 play.
The win was also DU's 14th at home (14-4), breaking the Palumbo Center record for wins set last season. It is the first time since 1981 (14-2) that a Duquesne team has posted 14 home victories.
Dunn-Martin, who hit a career-high seven 3-pointers and added six assists and three steals, was joined in double digits by
Michael Hughes (17 points),
Eric Williams Jr. (12 points) and
Marcus Weathers (10 points).
Michael Hughes led the Dukes with nine rebounds and added a game-high five blocks.
Duquesne, which shot 36 percent in the first half, fell behind 27-16 at the 5:50 mark before Dunn-Martin converted a three-point play followed by a 3-point field goal to cut the lead to 34-32 at the half.
The Minutemen opened the second half hot in building the lead to 53-43, before Duquesne responded with a 8-0 run started by a Weathers three-point play to make it 53-51 with 10:44 left.
It was then that Dunn-Martin picked up his fourth foul and UMass followed with five unanswered points to take a seven-point lead on a Jonathan Laurent put back at the 9:17 mark.
Dunn-Martin returned to the game with the Dukes down 61-54.
Michael Hughes hit a pair of free throws, then stole the inbounds pass and dunked it to pull DU within five, before the Dukes forced a 10 second call and Dunn-Martin buried a deep 3-pointer - his fifth - to make it 63-61 with 6:12 left.
Weathers made it a one-point game on a 3-pointer before Dunn-Martin added another 3-pointer to tie it at 67-67 with just under five minutes remaining.
Dunn-Martin's seventh 3-pointer gave Duquesne its first lead since 8-7 at 70-67.
The Dukes took a brief four-point lead before Carl Pierre hit a contested 3-pointer from the left wing to make it a one-point game.

Michael Hughes drive made it 74-71 before Williams Jr. poked the ball away leading to a fast break dunk by Weathers that made it 76-71 with 33 seconds left.
Dunn-Martin, who went 9-of-12 from the field, hit a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left to make it a six-point game.
Williams Jr. closed out the scoring with another free throw with five seconds to go.
Duquesne shot 51.7 percent in the second half to bring its overall percentage to 44.4 for the game. The Dukes, behind Dunn-Martin's 7-of-9 effort from the arc, finished 10-of-20 from 3-point.
The Dukes, who turned it over just seven times, turned 19 UMass turnovers into 27 points.
Duquesne completes the road portion of the Atlantic 10 schedule at Saint Louis on Wednesday, March 6 at 8:00 p.m. ET (FOX Sports Midwest/ESPN+).
NOTES
- With the win, Duquesne clinched a winning conference record for the sixth time in 42 Atlantic 10 seasons. The others: 1980, 1981, 1991, 2009 & 2011.
- Duquesne, at 10-6, has tied the school record for A-10 wins with two conference games remaining. The record was set in 1981 (10-3) and tied in 1991 (10-8) and 2011 (10-6).
- The Dukes are now 14-4 at home (14-3 at the Palumbo Center). The 14 wins, in addition to breaking the Palumbo Center record set last year (13-6), are the most by a Duquesne team since 1981 (14-2). DU has one home game remaining.
- This was Duquesne's eighth double-digit comeback win of the season - and fifth in A-10 play. It was also the 10th time the Dukes have come back from a halftime deficit to win.
- Tavian Dunn-Martin finished with a career-high 30 points, including a career-best seven 3-pointers on nine attempts. He is the 13th player in school history to hit seven or more 3-pointers in a game. Dunn-Martin's previous career high was 22 set on Feb. 23 at George Mason.
