@DuqBowling 14th at Music City Classic

Dukes go 8-5 against standout field

Twenty-second ranked Duquesne finished 14th out of 29 teams at the highly-competitive Music City Classic at Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tenn. over the weekend. DU finished with an 8-5 record including four wins over ranked programs. The Dukes' 193.6 average was the 11th-highest posted over the three-day event.

DU went 4-1 in baker play, with the lone loss coming to host No. 2 Vanderbilt in the opening match. The Dukes closed with four-straight wins, including victories over No. 23 Louisiana Tech and No. 21 Maryville. Duquesne posted its two highest scores vs. North Carolina A&T (1043) and Lincoln (1042). DU's 4872 baker total and 194.9 average was the 11th-highest in baker play.

Duquesne opened traditional play with its most impressive win of the weekend, 1102-986 over No. 4 Arkansas State. All five DU bowlers rolled between 212 and 238 in the balanced win. The Dukes extended their streak to six-straight with a 1018-887 win Drury, before falling to No. 14 UAB. DU closed traditional play with a win over Elmhurst and loss to No. 12 Tulane.

Olivia Farwell placed 16th with a 213 average, including a high game of 244 vs. Drury. Allison Hresko, who rolled the team-high 238 vs. Arkansas State, averaged a 197.4 which was good for 48th overall. Freshman Jessica Sacks averaged 192.2 in five games. Sarah Kirkpatrick averaged a 191.0 and Lauren Mayberry averaged a 190.5 in two games bowled each. Cassidy Powers averaged 189.33 in her three games.

Duquesne took a No. 13 seed in to Sunday's Championship round. The Dukes opened with a 4-3 win over No. 12 Tulane and rallied from a 3-1 deficit before falling in game seven to No. 9 Saint Francis U. DU finished the weekend with a 4-2 loss at the hands of No. 21 Maryville.

All five of DU's losses came to nationally ranked teams.

The Dukes return to action next weekend at the NEC Championship.
