Four Straight

Dukes win fourth in a row with 64-53 road victory at GW

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Duquesne used a strong second half to earn its fourth consecutive victory with a 64-53 triumph over host George Washington on Wednesday night at the Charles E. Smith Center. Chassidy Omogrosso led four Dukes (16-12, 10-5 A-10) in double-figures with 19 points in the win over the Colonials (10-18, 7-8 A-10).

With the score knotted at 31 midway through the third quarter, the Dukes closed the frame on an 11-3 run ignited by five straight points from Julijana Vojinovic as Duquesne gained a 42-34 advantage after three.

George Washington cut the lead to seven before the Dukes responded with six straight, including a pair of jumpers by Kadri-Ann Lass and another by Paige Cannon give Duquesne its largest advantage of the night at 51-38.

The Colonials answered with a 13-4 surge to shrink the margin to four at 55-51 with 2:29 to play, but the Dukes would outscore GW 9-2 the rest of the way, shooting 7-for-8 from the charity stripe in the final stretch to come away with the win.

Omogrosso finished 5-of-9 from the field, 3-of-5 from behind the arc and 6-of-8 from the free throw line in the victory. Lass finished with 15 points to go with eight rebounds and four assists for the Dukes.

Libby Bazelak recorded her second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 boards to go with a game-high six assists.

Vojinovic added 10 points and five rebounds, connecting on 3-of-6 field goals including 2-of-3 attempts from downtown.

Maddie Loder paced the Colonials with 14 points on the night.

The Dukes close out the regular season on Saturday hosting St. Bonaventure at 4:30 p.m. ET for senior day. Eniko Kuttor, Kadri-Ann Lass, Chassidy Omogrosso, Conor Richardson and Julijana Vojinovic will be honored prior to the matchup with the Bonnies.
