PITTSBURGH – Saint Louis' Jordyn Frantz scored 21 of her game-high 24 points in the second half to lead the Billikens over Duquesne 67-63 on Wednesday afternoon.
Libby Bazelak tied her career-high with 14 points for the Dukes (12-12, 6-5 A-10).
Laia Sole recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Kadri-Ann Lass and
Chassidy Omogrosso combined for 23 points, scoring 12 and 11 respectively.
Five-time reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week Ciaja Harbison added 18 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and a six steals for the Billikens (11-13, 6-5 A-10).
SLU built an 11 point lead at the end of the 3
rd quarter, but the Dukes' defense held the Billikens to just one field goal in the first 8:43 of the 4
th quarter. In that span, Duquesne outscored Saint Louis 17-6 to tie the game at 61-61 with 1:27 left.
Franz made a layup on SLU's next possession, which was ultimately the game-winning basket. Duquesne missed a layup on their next trip up the court, and had a chance to tie the game with 14 seconds left and lost possession on an offensive foul with seven seconds to play.
