HARMAR, Pa. - Duquesne improved to 4-2 on the season after a pair of 4-3 victories over Buffalo and Towson this weekend.
On Friday, the Dukes came from behind to defeat the defending Mid-American Conference champions Buffalo. The Bulls stole the doubles point and went up 2-0 after winning at #6 singles. The Dukes tied it up at 2-2 after
Aishwarya Kona won at #4 and
Julianne Herman at #1. Duquesne took a 3-2 lead after
Priyanka Mitta's win at #5, but the match was tied again when UB won at #2. The match came down to
Maddy Adams at #3. After splitting the first two sets, Adams held off a tough Buffalo opponent for a 6-4 win in the 3
rd set giving the Dukes a 4-3 victory.
Against Towson, the Dukes rolled in doubles, with
Laurel Shymansky and Herman and
Margot Pessy and Kona each winning 6-1 at the #1 and #2 sports respectively.
Meredith Lee and Mitta took #3 6-4. Singles victories by Lee at #6, Shymansky at #2 and Herman at #1 clinched the win for the Dukes.
