CLEVELAND - Duquesne shot a season-low 33.8 percent in falling to Marshall, 83-61, in the second game of the Cleveland Classic doubleheader at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
Marcus Weathers, who has led the Dukes in points and rebounds in each of the past four games, scored a career-high 25 points and tied his career-best with 13 rebounds in posting his third double-double of the season.
Michael Hughes added 15 points for the Dukes, who finished 3-of-16 from the 3-point arc and posted a season-low seven assists.
Duquesne hit just one of its first 14 shots in falling behind 18-7. The Marshall lead reached 12 before the Dukes, who missed 12 consecutive shots at one point, made three of four to cut the lead to 21-15.
The Herd, who got back-to-back buckets from Cam Brooks-Harris to push the lead back to 12 at 34-22, led 38-29 at the half.
Weathers had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the opening 20 minutes to keep the Dukes in it.
DU opened the second half 5-of-13 and turned it over five times as Marshall built its lead to 57-40 with under 12 minutes to go.
The Herd took their first 20-point lead on a Taevion Kinsey layup with 4:18 left.
Marshall, which shot 51.5 percent, was led by 22 points from Jarrod West. West hit four of Marshall's eight 3-pointers.
Duquesne opens Atlantic 10 play on Thursday, Jan. 2 when it takes on Saint Louis in a home game at Robert Morris' UPMC Event Center at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+).

- DU's previous low shooting percentage was 36.4 percent (20-55) in the loss to UAB on Dec. 22. Its previous low assist game was eight in the win over Indiana State.
- Duquesne shot .324 (11-of-34) in the first half. Weathers was 7-of-9, the rest of the team went 4-of-25.
- Weathers' 25 points were four more than his previous career high of 21 set on Dec. 21 against Austin Peay. The 13 rebounds tied his career high set earlier this season vs. Radford. Weathers went 10-of-14 from the field.
- This was the ninth career double-double for Weathers (third this season). Weathers has led the Dukes in scoring and rebounding in each of the past four games.
- Marshall's largest lead was 24 at 77-53 with 1:54 left ... Duquesne's largest lead was at 1-0 ... there were three ties and one lead change before Jarrod West gave Marshall the lead for good on a pair of free throws that made it 9-7 with 14:36 left in the first half ...
