PREVIEW: @DuqMSoccer at Davidson

Dukes head to N.C. looking to secure a spot in the A-10 Championship

Duquesne (8-7-1, 3-4), looking to secure a spot in the Atlantic 10 Championship, heads to North Carolina to face Davidson (3-10-2, 2-5) on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. (ESPN+). The Dukes enter the final week of the A-10 regular season in a four-way tie for sixth with La Salle, George Washington and George Mason with nine points each. A win will clinch a top eight finish for the Dukes and ensure a spot in the Championship which begins on the home fields of the top four finishers on Nov. 9. Davidson needs a win and some help to secure a Top 8 spot. The complete bracket will be released by the Atlantic 10 office after the conclusion of Saturday's games. The Dukes are 2-5 on the road (1-2 in the A-10), while the Wildcats are 3-3-1 at home (2-2 in the A-10 win wins over St. Bonaventure and George Washington). This is Senior Night for the Wildcats.

  • The Wildcats have scored 11 goals in 15 games. Seven of the scores have come in seven home matches.

QUICK HITS
  • Duquesne has been ranked in Southeast Region of the United Soccer Coaches Poll four times this season:  #10 on Sept. 17, #7 on Sept. 24, #8 on Oct. 8 & #10 on Oct. 15.
  • The Dukes are 2-5 on the road.
  • DU won back-to-back road games at Robert Morris and Saint Joseph's earlier this season. It was the first time since 2009 that a Dukes' team won two straight on the road.
  • Five of Duquesne's seven losses have come by one-goal margins. The others were 2-0 at Cleveland State and 2-0 at Dayton.
  • The Dukes have yet to surrender more than two goals in a game.
  • Twelve of DU's 16 matches have been decided by one or fewer goals. The exceptions are a 2-0 win at Robert Morris on Sept. 18, a 4-0 win over St. Bonaventure on Oct. 5, a 2-0 loss at Cleveland State on Oct. 15 and a 2-0 loss at Dayton on Oct. 23.
  • DU has played in just one match where either team scored more than two goals (a 4-0 Duquesne win over St. Bonaventure on Oct. 5).
  • The four goals vs. the Bonnies were DU's most in a conference game since a 4-0 win over George Washington on Oct. 26, 2014.
  • Duquesne won a school record six in a row prior to falling at Saint Francis (2-1) on Sept. 24. The six-game streak broke the school record of five set in 2005 and matched in 2006.
