Duquesne (7-3-1, 2-1) scored a season-high four goals, including three in the first half, to put away St. Bonaventure (2-7, 0-3), 4-0, in an Atlantic 10 contest on Rooney Field Saturday night.
Nate Dragisich (4'),
Jack Shearer (25') and
Manel Busquets (29') all scored in the first 30 minutes as the Dukes never looked back. Shearer completed a brace with a goal in the 81st minute for the Dukes who had not scored more than two times in a game this season. Duquesne, which is now 5-0-1 at home, returns to action next Saturday when it hosts George Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Rooney Field (ESPN+).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nate Dragisich headed in a cross from fellow freshman Carter Breen in the fourth minute to open the scoring.
- Jack Shearer was taken down in the box in the 24th minute, resulting in a Moritz Kappelsberger penalty kick that sailed wide left.
- One minute later, Shearer eluded a pair of St. Bonaventure defenders and put it in the bottom left corner past a diving Kyle Cunningham to make it 2-0.
- Busquets took a give-and-go pass from Dragisich to notch his team-high sixth goal in the 29th minute.
- Shearer closed the scoring off a cross from Busquets in the 81st minute.
- This was the first time Duquesne was involved in a three-goal game this season.
- With the win, the Dukes remain undefeated at home at 5-0-1.
- Duquesne outshot St. Bonaventure 18-11, including 9-2 on goal.
- DU's Robbie McKelvey registered a pair of saves in notching his fourth shutout of the season.
- Freshman Nate Dragisich finished with a goal and pair of assists.
