HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Dukes took a lead when DeBaldo found Sydney Routch sprinting ahead past midfield. DeBaldo ran ahead to attempt to receive the pass back near the box, but the pass went to Richmond's Jaclyn Kemly. Kemly tried to clear possession, but the ball found the back of the Spiders net. The goal marked the second-consecutive game where Duquesne's opponents tallied an own goal.
  • In the 53rd minute, Ashley Rodriguez found Marley Smith just outside the box, who sent a pass to DeBaldo. DeBaldo, facing away from the net, passed the ball in directly in the air to Araujo, towards the net. Araujo took possession and quickly sent the ball to the left of the goalkeeper to give the Dukes a 2-0 advantage.
  • With just over two minutes left, Prillaman took possession from a Duquesne defender, who made a move past another defender, as she found TJ Anderson. Anderson had an open shot with the right side of the goal open, firing into the net to make it a 2-1 game.
  • The Spiders had opportunities late, including a corner kick with around eight seconds left on the clock, Richmond could not capitalize.
  • Duquesne led 53 percent to 47 percent in possession total.
  • The Dukes held a 15-7 advantage on shots and 10-1 on shots on goal.
  • Duquesne also held a 5-3 advantage on corner kicks.
  • The Dukes now lead the all-time series by an 8-7-1 mark and have won five consecutive victories over Richmond at Rooney Field.

DUQUESNE HEAD COACH AL ALVINE
"While the first goal was an own-goal, in terms of getting the ball to the end line and cutting it across the face of the goal; it's something we practice a lot. Good things will happen when we execute and that's exactly how it played out. Jaimi also scored a good goal. If I'm disappointed about anything, it's the fact that we only scored two goals. I thought we created a lot of good chances and opportunities. On another day, hopefully those shots go in."
