Dukes Battle Rhode Island to Scoreless Tie to Close Regular Season

The Dukes will find out its A-10 quarterfinal opponent on Monday morning following the Davidson-Fordham game.

KINGSTON, R.I. – In the final regular-season contest of the 2019 campaign, the Duquesne Dukes (6-7-3, 4-5-1 A10) and Rhode Island Rams (4-9-5, 1-7-2 A10) battled to a scoreless tie on a rain-filled Sunday afternoon at the URI Soccer Complex.

The contest was called early after 90 minutes, due to weather and unplayable conditions.

The Dukes will have to wait until Monday morning to see which team it will play in the Atlantic 10 Championships, as Davidson and Fordham's game was postponed due to weather.

In the Atlantic 10 standings, the Dukes are currently tied for sixth place with Saint Joseph's with 13 points. Davidson and Fordham are tied for ninth place, but the winner would jump to sole possession of sixth place and into the A-10 Championships. If there is a winner, Fordham or Davidson would earn the sixth seed, Saint Joseph's would be the seventh seed (Saint Joseph's holds tiebreaker over Duquesne), and Duquesne would be the eight seed and head to Saint Louis for the A-10 Quarterfinals. If there's a tie in Davidson-Fordham game, Duquesne would earn the seventh seed and travel to George Washington next week.
