PITTSBURGH - A school record 91 percent of Duquesne University student-athletes who enrolled as freshmen in 2012-13, graduated within a six-year window according to the latest NCAA Graduation Success Rate released today.
The 91 percent GSR exceeded the previous mark of 90 percent set last year. Duquesne's performance helped the NCAA post its highest-ever single-year rate of 89 percent.
In all, six programs had perfect scores (100) including: women's lacrosse, women's swimming and diving, women's tennis and women's cross country, women's indoor track and women's outdoor track. Twelve of the 16 Duquesne sports rated posted a mark higher than the national average (women's bowling, a fourth-year program, was not part of the report). Every program posted a GSR of 80 or above.
Men's basketball had a 90 GSR, one point shy of last year's school-best rate. The number is well above the men's basketball national average of 83 percent.
Federal Graduation Rate data also showed DU's student-athletes graduating at a one percent higher rate than the general student body.

The Graduation Success Rate Report gives graduation information about the most recent six-year graduating class of students and student-athletes who enter as freshmen in 2012-13. The graduation success rate (percent) is based on a comparison of the number of student-athletes who entered a college or university and the number of those who graduated within six years.
