Richardson Joins Women’s Basketball Staff as Graduate Assistant

Richardson replaces Brianna Thomas, who was named an assistant coach at Merrimack

PITTSBURGH – After a successful career on the court and in the classroom on the Bluff, Conor Richardson has been named a graduate assistant for Duquesne women's basketball.

Richardson finished her four-year career at Duquesne with 627 points, 290 rebounds and 158 assists, appearing in 121 games from 2015-16 to 2018-19.

As a junior in 2018-19, Richardson averaged a career-high 7.7 points per game. She posted a career-best 22 points against East Tennessee State during her senior season.

In the classroom, Richardson earned Dean's List honors, Director of Athletics' Honor Roll and the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.

"Conor follows a long line of successful graduate assistants who have gone on to D1 coaching careers, administration to working in the corporate world," said Duquesne head coach Dan Burt. "Conor brings the ability to genuinely connect with people from all walks of life. Her work ethic, listening skills, and intelligence are top notch and we are glad that she is in our program. We expect her to make an immediate impact as she transitions into the coaching world."

Richardson replaces Brianna Thomas, who was named an assistant coach at Merrimack College after earning her master's from Duquesne in leadership in August 2019. The Warriors are entering their inaugural season as a full-time Division I institution.

"We watched Brianna grow up in our program as a player and a coach over the last 5 and a half years," continued Burt. "She is an outstanding x's and 0's tactician, with the ability to demonstrate any skill/position work on the floor. We believe that Brianna is poised for great success as a young coach at Merrimack, where she will be mentored by an old friend and former colleague in Monique LeBlanc. The sky is the limit for Brianna in her career."

Richardson, who graduated with an undergraduate degree in marketing from Duquesne in May 2018, is currently pursuing her master's in business administration.
