HARMAR, Pa. – Duquesne opened up the 2019 Spring season with a 5-2 win over Saint Francis followed by a 6-1 victory over Youngstown State on Sunday afternoon.
Against SFU,
Julianne Herman and
Laurel Shymansky won at #1 doubles as did
Meredith Lee and
Priyanka Mitta at #2.
Maddy Adams and
Miranda Bishard won at #3 by default. The Dukes won four of the six singles matches with Shymansky (#1),
Aishwarya Kona (#2), Lee (#5) and
Margot Pessy (#6) all taking home victories.
In the second match of the afternoon against YSU, Duquesne swept the doubles point. Herman and Shymansky (#1), Lee and Mitta (#2) and Pessy and Kona (#3) were all victorious. In singles, Herman (#1), Shymansky (#2), Adams (#3) and Kona (#4) all won in three sets. Lee (#6) was a straight set winner.
