@DuqWSoccer Opens 2018 Season at Penn State Invitational

Dukes to play Arkansas on Friday, #4 Penn State on Sunday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Duquesne women's soccer will open the 2018 season at the Penn State Invitational with a pair of matches beginning Friday against Arkansas at 5:00 p.m. The Dukes' second match will be against the host Nittany Lions, who have a preseason ranking of #4 by the United Soccer Coaches, on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
 
THE SERIES
  • This will be the first time the Dukes have faced Arkansas
  • Duquesne and Penn State have met twice – in Happy Valley on Oct. 18, 1995 and on the Bluff on Nov. 3, 1996 - with the Nittany Lions winning both matches
 QUICK HITS
  • The Dukes are 0-3-0 against SEC schools and have not played one since Alabama on Sept. 2, 2007
  • Duquesne is 1-6-0 against Big Ten schools, the last match being Aug. 28, 2011 at Michigan State
  • The Dukes' lone win over a Big Ten school was a 1-0 victory against Ohio State on Sept. 19, 1994
  • Arkansas is coming off an 11-11-2 season (T-7th SEC) and a first round berth in the NCAA tournament
  • The Razorbacks return three of their top four scorers from last season in All-SEC Freshman Parker Goins, Stefani Doyle and Kayla McKinnon
  • Penn State was 15-5-4 (T-4th Big Ten) in 2017 and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA tournament
  • The Nittany Lions return five All-Conference players in Emily Ogle, Kaleigh Riehl, Laura Suero, Frankie Tagliaferri and Charlotte Williams
