PITTSBURGH - The visiting Davidson Wildcats scored five straight goals to close out the game in a 10-8 victory over the Duquesne lacrosse team in an Atlantic 10 matchup on Friday evening at Arthur J. Rooney Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior attacker Haley Matthai (Bel Air, Md/C. Milton Wright) scored a hat trick in the 17 minutes of action to put the Dukes (3-11, 1-6 A-10) on top 3-1.
- After holding a 6-4 halftime lead, the Dukes scored two of the first three goals of the second stanza from junior midfielder Sarah Kollhoff (Exton, Pa/Downington) and sophomore midfielder Maddie Hart (Sykesville, Md./Century) to gain an 8-5 advantage.
- However, the Wildcats (8-7, 3-4 A-10) responded with five straight goals to close the game and claim the 10-8 road triumph over Duquesne.
KEY STATS
- Matthai matched a career high with three goals to go with an assist in the game. She now has 20 goals on the year, good for fifth on the team.
- Kollhoff had two goals while freshman attacker Michaela Connolly (Sykesville, Md./Century) netted a goal and dished out an assist for the Dukes.
- Senior defender Kenna Gubler (Frederick, Md./Tuscarora) picked up a game-high six ground balls.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Maddy Curtis (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) made 12 saves between the pipes for Duquesne.

The Dukes play their final home game of the 2018 campaign on Sunday afternoon against George Washington at 1 p.m. at Rooney Field. Duquesne will honor its six seniors Sarah Dawley, Kenna Gubler, Rachel Hughes, Emily McMinimee, Allison Shifflett and Jill Vacanti prior to the A-10 contest.
