QUEENS, N.Y. - The Duquesne women's basketball team's season came to end on Thursday evening after falling to St. John's 65-52 in Round 3 of the WNIT.
Chassidy Omogrosso led the Dukes (25-8) with 14 points. Kadri-Ann Lass added 10 points and had a pair of blocks.
The Red Storm (19-14) led from wire-to-wire to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
SJU jumped out to an early nine point lead in the game's first four minutes. The Dukes answered with three straight baskets to make the score 12-9.
Duquesne only made a pair of field goals in the 2nd quarter as SJU's lead swelled to 19 points just before halftime. The Red Storm's took their largest lead of the contest at 27 points, 53-26, with 22 seconds left in the 3rd quarter.
Both teams shot 42 percent from the field. However, St. John's knocked down 60 percent of their 3-point attempts and grabbed 11 offensive boards to the Dukes' four.
St. John's will play the winner of West Virginia and James Madison.
