@DuqBowling Ranked #20 in NTCA Preseason Top 25

Third-year program returns entire roster from 2017-18

PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne bowling team will enter the 2018-19 season ranked 20th nationally according to the National Tenpin Coaches Association Preseason Poll released late yesterday.

The third-year program returns the entire roster from last year's team, which finished 65-43 and ranked No. 19 in the final NTCA Top 25.

"Heading into our third year as a program, and with the success we had last season, I think it has now become our expectation to continue to be ranked," said head coach Jody Fetterhoff. "Our goal is to keep improving and move up in the rankings throughout the season. With everyone returning from last year - and the addition of two freshmen who are ready to contribute - I believe we will do that."

The Dukes, who are one of five Northeast Conference programs in the preseason poll, open the 2018-19 season at the Bud Whitman Memorial in Reading, Pa. on October 13.

NCAA bowling competes as a National Collegiate sport, in which all three divisions compete for one National Championship.

NEW THIS YEAR
The national committee will select 12 teams during the selection process. Eight conferences will receive automatic qualifiers (AMCC, CIAA, ECC, MIAA, MEAC, NEC, Southland, SWAC) and four teams will receive at-large bids. Four teams will be seeded into the Championship bracket, while the eight remaining teams will compete in four play-in matches. The winners of these matches will then be seeding into the eight-team championship bracket.

The 2019 National Championship will be held April 11-13 at Game of Wickliffe in Cleveland, Ohio.
