@DuqBowling Places 7th and 5th at Two-Day Bud Whitman Memorial

Freshman Jessica Cadez averages a team-high 187 in traditional match play

Duquesne placed seventh in baker matches (3-2) and fifth in traditional matches (3-2) out of 20 schools at the Bud Whitman Memorial in Reading, Pa. over the weekend.
Sophomore Olivia Farwell was named tournament MVP after posting a 21.8 baker frame average on Saturday. DU's top baker score was a 955 in a 955-873 win over Caldwell.
In Sunday's traditional matches, the 20th ranked Dukes defeated Penn State-Behrend, NEC member St. Francis Brooklyn and Coppin State.
Freshman Jessica Cadez led the team, finishing 11th overall with a 187 average in five games. Farwell placed 16th with a 182.40. Junior Megan Cook and graduate student Cassidy Powers came in as subs and contributed in a big way. Cook averaged 185.33 for three games, while Powers averaged 185.25 for four games. The team shot a 995 in game four, which was the highest game among all teams, to temporarily move into third place before falling to fifth in their 848-733 win over Coppin State.
"Despite most of the team not bowling well on Saturday, we made the adjustments and put ourselves in position heading into the last game,' said head coach Jody Fetterhoff. "Unfortunately, we couldn't put together a better last game and two teams jumped us. We improved 124 pins on Sunday and ended up fifth  overall in terms of total pins for the two days, so we improved one spot from where we were last year at this time."
