2016-17 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Awards
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Duquesne senior forward Amadea Szamosi has been named Atlantic 10 Third-Team All-Conference, as announced by the league office today.
The senior from PÃÆ’©cs, Hungary finished the regular season as Duquesne's top rebounder (5th in the A-10), averaging 8.5 boards per game. Additionally, Szamosi finished second in scoring for the Dukes with 12.8 points per game.
She recorded a career-high 19 rebounds in Duquesne's home-opener against Lehigh, and is currently ranked 55th in the country with 253 rebounds.
Szamosi earned A-10 Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week on January 30th after averaging 20.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in Duquesne's two wins over Richmond and at George Washington.
The senior forward posted 11 double-doubles on the season and has 22 total for her career. In Saturday's Atlantic 10 Championship First Round win over George Mason, she moved into 17th place on Duquesne's all-time scoring list with 1,195 career points.
This is Szamosi's first All-Conference honor.
#7 seed Duquesne (16-14, 8-8 A-10) travels to Richmond for the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship quarterfinals, and will face #2 George Washington (20-8, 13-3 A-10) this Friday at 4:30 p.m.
