PITTSBURGH - Duquesne went 2-7 in the second Northeast Conference meet of the fall hosted by Fairleigh Dickinson University on February 25th & 26th. The Dukes went 2-2 on Saturday with wins over nationally ranked Sacred Heart and St. Francis Brooklyn. It was conference leader SHU's first loss in conference play. The Dukes were one of only three teams to defeat the Pioneers in the two conference events this season.
Duquesne began Sunday shooting their highest total for the weekend but lost a close match against #17 LIU Brooklyn 941-917. The team then dropped their next five matches to fall to 7th place in the conference.
"Our conference is very tough as five out of the seven teams are all ranked in the top 25 in the nation with two teams ranked in the Top 10. To get four wins in conference play and beat a team ranked in the Top 10 in our first year is quite an accomplishment," said DU head coach Jody Fetterhoff.
