Hackbart anchored Duquesne's lineup during its first-place showing at Kutztown's Golden Bear Invitational. Powering the Dukes to a 10-3 record at the three-day event in Reading, PA, the rookie right-hander averaged a team-high 18.8 pins per frame. Hackbart threw 72 strikes in 169 attempts (.426) and accounted for an .834 filled frames percentage over the course of the tournament, which consisted solely of baker matches. Hackbart helped the Dukes to some notable victories at the Golden Bear Invitational, including two wins over No. 16 Adelphi. Duquesne, which defeated No. 20 Franklin Pierce in the championship match, also posted wins over event host Kutztown and NEC rival Caldwell.
