Buckeye Baker Classic Results

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne, competing in its second USBC Collegiate tournament (a mixture of NCAA, NAIA and Club teams), finished second among 15 teams at the Buckeye Baker Classic in Columbus, Ohio on Jan. 14-15. The Dukes jumped up one spot from Saturday to Sunday to finish sixth overall in the tournament. As the sixth-seed in the Championship bracket, Duquesne fell to 30th ranked (USBC) Adrian College which was seeded third. Adrian took the two-out-of-three match 2-0.

A total of five nationally ranked USBC teams participated in the event including No. 1 Pikeville, No. 4 Wright State, No. 6 Urbana, No. 10 Notre Dame College and #30 Adrian.

"The team competed against several highly ranked USBC certified teams and for the second time this season made the cut to compete in the championship round," said head coach Jody Fetterhoff. "Unfortunately, we missed some spares and lost our first match but it was still a good showing in our first tournament back from break. We now have some time to prepare for and focus on the Red Flash Invitational."

The Dukes return to action on January 27-29 at the Red Flash Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis U at Holiday Bowl in Altoona, Pa.
