@DuqWBB Overseas Update: Deva'Nyar Workman

July 20, 2016

Former Duquesne guard Deva'Nyar Workman has signed a professional contract with Telge Basket of the Damligan Laegue in Sweden. This marks 11 Duquesne players that have signed professional contracts to play overseas that have been coached by Dan Burt.

Workman will be playing in the same league as Jose-Ann Johnson, who signed with the Visby Ladies earlier this week.

Telge Basket is located in the city of Södertälje, 22 miles southwest of Stockholm.

Workman, who arrived on the Bluff in 2014 after playing two season at Jacksonville Junior College, finished her Duquesne career averaging 12.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.

While leading the Dukes to their first ever A-10 regular season championship and NCAA Tournament appearance as a senior, Workman finished 10th in scoring, 4th in rebounding and second in free throw percentage in the Atlantic 10 Conference. She was named First-Team All-Conference, Sixth Woman of the Year and to the All-Defensive Team in addition to being named Player of the Week twice.

She is part of the all-time winningest senior class that posted 95 victories.

"Dev is a winner," said head coach Dan Burt. "She is a mother, the consummate student-athlete and now, a professional. Dev's game translates well to the pro game and we expect big things from her in Sweden. As with all of our players who are playing professionally, we are very happy that Dev is reaching another goal and dream in her life. She will always be a Duquesne Duke."
