July 14, 2016 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Atlantic 10 Conference on Thursday announced the 2016-17 women's basketball conference schedule team pairings. The league's 14 members will once again play a 16-game conference schedule in the upcoming season, which allows teams to face each opponent once and three teams twice, The complete 2016-17 conference schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date.
Duquesne's home-and-home opponents will change from last season, with George Washington replacing Rhode Island. Dayton and St. Bonaventure return as two-time opponents in 2016-17.
At home, the Dukes will face Davidson, Dayton (WNIT), George Mason, George Washington (NCAA), Richmond, Saint Louis (WNIT), VCU (WNIT) and St. Bonaventure (NCAA).
On the road, Duquesne will visit Dayton, Fordham, George Washington, La Salle, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Saint Joseph's and St. Bonaventure.
The 2017 A-10 Championship will feature a new, enhanced format, with six first-round games being played on campus sites before heading to Richmond, Friday through Sunday, for the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship final games. The top two championship seeds will receive a bye, with the remainder of the field facing off in games hosted by seeds 3-8 for the first round. The first round will take place on the Saturday and Sunday prior to the weekend of the quarterfinals, semifinals and final. In 2017 the first round will be Feb. 25-26 with the three final rounds being played March 3-5.
