OLEAN, NY - Jaylen Adams scored 18 of his game-high 24 points in the second half to lead St. Bonaventure (19-7, 11-4) to an 80-76 win over Duquesne (15-13, 5-10) at Reilly Center.
Micah Mason led a season-high six Dukes it double figures with 16 points, including four 3-pointers. Eric James had 15, Derrick Colter scored 13 and L.G. Gill, Darius Lewis and TySean Powell added 10 each for the Dukes who dropped their sixth in a row.
Duquesne didn't trail in the second half until Marcus Posley hit a 3-pointer with 3:29 left. The Dukes tied it 12 seconds later on a 3-pointer by James.
The score was knotted at 72-72 when James was whistled for a foul and Adams, who finished 12-of-14 from the line, made both free throws to put the Bonnies up two.
Mason drove through heavy traffic in the lane, but couldn't get a layup to fall.
DU was called for another foul, which sent Adams back to the line where he made both.
Mason had a good look at the 3-pointer from the left wing with just under one minute left, but couldn't get it to fall as Jordan Tyson was fouled and hit one of two.
Duquesne cut it to two on a Powell layup with 11 seconds left, then forced a held ball. The Bonnies barely beat the five-count and got the ball to Dion Wright who was fouled and hit both for the final margin.
The Bonnies, who outscored the Dukes 16-5 from the line in the second half, scored their last eight points from the stripe.
"We just can't allow 30 free throws in a game like this," said Duquesne head coach Jim Ferry. "You can't do that in such a hard-fought game. We just didn't get to the foul line in the second half."
Duquesne took its largest lead at 49-41 on a Gill 3-pointer with 13:52 left. The Dukes were up six before Adams hit back-to-back 3-pointers to tie it with 7:21 remaining.
Neither team led by more than three until Adams' late free throws.
DU finished with one more field goal, including two more 3-pointers, than the Bonnies. The difference came at the foul line, where SBU was 22-30 and Duquesne went 14-18.
There were three ties and seven lead changes - with both teams managing brief five-point leads - in a first half that ended with the game tied at 36-36.
Duquesne returns home to face Richmond on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 6:00 p.m. (ASN). The final weekend home game will be Senior Day for final year players Colter Mason, Jeremiah Jones and Nick Foschia.

• Micah Mason (16 points), had his streak of consecutive 20-point games snapped at six ... it was the longest streak by a Duquesne player since Derrick Alston did the same in 1992-93.
