PITTSBURGH- Cassie Oursler's layup with four seconds remaining proved to be the game-winner as Buffalo defeated the Duquesne women's basketball team 71-69 Tuesday afternoon.
Amadea Szamosi led all players with 26 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Kadri-Ann Lass added 22 points.
Stephanie Reid led Buffalo with 15 points and seven assists.
1st QUARTER- The Dukes shot 64 percent from the field with Szamosi scoring nine points. Duquesne closed out the quarter on a 6-0 run with Omogrosso's basket bringing the score to 20-14.
2ND QUARTER- A Staffileno jumper gave the Dukes their largest lead of the half at 22-14 at the 9:12 mark. UB's Courtney Wilkins closed out the quarter with three foul shots, making the score 35-32 at halftime.
3RD QUARTER- Back-to-back baskets by Summer Hemphill and Reid gave the Bulls their first lead of the game, 48-46 with 2:47 remaining. Duquesne responded by scoring the next six points to close out the quarter, leading 52-48.
4TH QUARTER- Buffalo's 7-0 run capped by a Reid 3-pointer with 2:39 to go gave Buffalo the lead at 64-62. The teams would exchange leads, however Oursler's layup with 4 seconds left put Buffalo ahead 71-69.
UP NEXT: The Dukes head to Berkeley, Calif. for the Cal Classic where they will face Western Carolina on Friday at 6:15 p.m. and either Cal or San Francisco on Saturday.
