QUICK RECAP: Despite trailing 2-0, the Duquesne volleyball team won three straight sets to defeat George Washington 3-2 Saturday night.
With the win, the Dukes improve their overall record to 17-9, 7-4 A-10, while George Washington falls to 10-6, 3-8 A-10. Dani Suiter led Duquesne with a match-high 54 assists, Molly Davet added 16 kills and Sammy Kline led all players with 19 digs. Additionally, Madelynn Burnham and Abbie Trzeciak combined for 30 kills.
SET 1: An early 6-1 run by the Colonials would leave the Dukes trailing until a Davet kill would tie the set at 18. Two additional ties occured before GW would pull away with a 27-25 set victory.
SET 2: After four ties, including one at 23-23, three unanswered points would lift the Colonials to a 25-23 set win.
SET 3: There were 11 ties and five lead changes before a Davet kill would bring the Dukes to a 25-23 set victory.
SET 4: Duquesne never trailed, and Davet's five kills and set-high eight digs led Duquesne to 25-21 win.
SET 5: Duquesne held the lead throughout the set to take a 15-6 set win and 3-2 match victory.
UP NEXT: The Dukes return home to host Dayton (24-1, 10-0) next Friday at 7 p.m. and Saint Louis (12-13, 7-3) Sunday at 1 p.m.
