QUICK RECAP: The Duquesne volleyball team finished the weekend with a 3-0 victory over Colgate in the final match of the Duquesne/Pitt Invitational. The Dukes finished the event 2-1, defeating Youngstown State and falling to Pittsburgh.

Lacey Levers recorded 11 kills and Madelynn Burnham finished with 10. Mary Henry had 37 assists. Molly Davet had 15 digs and Sammy Kline and Camryn Vecera each had 10 digs.

The Raiders opened up an early 10-6 lead in the 1st set forcing a Dukes timeout. However, Duquesne would come back on a 6-2 run to tie the set at 12-12 after a Burnham kill. A Colgate attacking error gave the Dukes a 15-14 lead, which they would hold for the rest of the set. An ace by Davet gave the Dukes set 25-19.

Duquesne doubled up Colgate 8-4 early in the 2nd set behind three kills from Levers. They would extend the lead to six points at 16-10 forcing a Raiders timeout. A kill by Trzeciak put the Dukes up by eight points at 21-13. An ace from Kline, a Colgate service error, a kill by Davet and a Colgate attack error gave the Dukes a 25-15 set win.

After four ties in the 3rd set, a Davet kill put the Dukes up 9-8 and started a 10-3 run, giving Duquesne an 18-11 advantage. The Raiders would cut the deficit to two points at 23-21. A kill by Henry set up match point, which was won on a Colgate attack error.

UP NEXT: The Dukes will travel to Philadelphia to play in the Cherry and White Classic hosted by Temple. On Sept. 11, they take on Binghamton followed by Montana and Temple the following day.
