Schrom Secures Best Western Invitational All-Tournament Honors

Sophomore averaged 5.81 points, 5.46 kills, and 4.23 digs per set

Pittsburgh, Pa – For the third consecutive week, sophomore Emersen Schrom secured a place on an All-Tournament Team, this time earning the honor at the Best Western Invitational over the weekend.

The Pittsburgh native once again led the Dukes' offense, averaging 5.81 points, 5.46 kills, and 4.23 digs per set. Across three matches, she racked up 75.5 points, 71 kills, 55 digs, and three service aces.

In the opening match against Southern Indiana, Schrom notched her fourth double-double of the season with 21 kills and a career-high 20 digs, while also adding three assists, two aces, and a .283 hitting percentage. That evening, she followed up with her fifth double-double, posting a career-best 29 kills and 15 digs on a .297 clip against Middle Tennessee. Her 29 kills set a new program record for a four-set match, surpassing the previous mark of 27 set by Shelia Lopez at Xavier in November 1997. Schrom closed out the weekend with her sixth double-double, tallying 21 kills and 20 digs against Miami (OH), along with one block, one ace, and an assist.

Schrom currently leads the nation in total points with 198.0 and ranks fourth in NCAA Division I with 5.66 points per set. She sits sixth in kills per set at 4.94, with her 173 total kills ranking third nationally. The Pittsburgh native has also recorded 17 service aces, fifth-best in the Atlantic 10, while her 115 digs place her sixth in the conference

Duquesne returns back to UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse when it hosts the Duquesne/RMU invitational. The Dukes will battle Buffalo on Friday, Sept. 19 before wrapping up non-conference play against Saint Francis on Saturday, Sept. 20.
