QUICK RECAP:
The Duquesne volleyball team participated in the Cherry and White Challenge in Philadelphia, Pa. In the three-match event, the Dukes (5-6) defeated Montana and fell to Binghamton and host Temple.
Binghamton 3, Duquesne 2 (25-23,16-25,19-25,25-22,20-18)
Lacey Levers recorded a career-high 21 kills and hit .364 in the 2:10 marathon match Friday afternoon. After splitting the first four sets, the decisive set saw 12 ties. Tied at 18-18, the Dukes had back-to-back attack errors giving the Bearcats the set 20-18 and the match 3-2.
Duquesne 3, Montana 1 (25-13,25-20,24-26,25-16)
Levers had a team-high 16 kills and hit .619 and Camryn Vecera added 13 digs as the Dukes defeated the Grizzlies on Saturday morning. Up 2 sets to 1, the Dukes were in control in the 4th set. Leading 21-16, Duquesne forced three straight Montana errors and Molly Davet finished off the set with a kill to give the Dukes the set 25-16 and the match 3-1.
Temple 3, Duquesne 2 (25-19,13-25,25-14,21-25,15-1)
This was the first matchup between the two former Atlantic 10 rivals since the quarterfinal round of the 2012 A-10 Championship. Much like that match, this match went five sets. Unfortunately, it was the Owls that prevailed. Levers recorded 15 kills and Sammy Kline had 22 digs. After falling behind 3-1, the Dukes won the 4th set 25-21. With the Owls leading 3-1 to start out the 5th set, Temple won the next 12 points to take the set 15-1 and the match 3-2.

The final tournament of the season at Rutgers (Sept. 18-19). The Dukes will face Princeton and Howard on Friday and Rutgers on Saturday. The Dukes return home to begin the A-10 season on Sept. 25th against Dayton.
