This is the fifth profile in the series of the eight new Duquesne women's basketball players that will be joining the roster for the 2015-16 season. Today, Conor Richardson will be profiled.
Richardson, a 5-10 guard from Carlynton High School led the Cougars to an appearance in the WPIAL Class AA semifinals and a berth in the second round of the PIAA Championship this past season. As a junior, Richardson took Carlynton to their first appearance in the WPIAL quarterfinals since 2005. The Cougars were WPIAL AA Section 5 champions in both Richardson's junior and senior seasons.
As a senior, she averaged 19.6 points per game 6.8 rebounds, 5.6 steals per game and 4.4 assists per game. Richardson, who missed her sophomore season with an injury, finished her career with 1,166 points.
Richardson has been named to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Fabulous Five and the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Terrific Ten. Additionally, she was named to the 2015 AP Pennsylvania AA Third-Team.
A teammate of incoming freshman Duquesne Chassidy Omogrosso, Richardson played club ball for the nationally-ranked Western PA Bruins, where she was named a USJN/Nike U17 National Championship All-Star. Richardson, a three star player with a scouts grade of 90, is ranked the #22 guard by ESPN. Says Dan Olson of ESPNW, "Richardson is an off-guard that handles and creates in uptempo. She is explosively athletic off the bounce, elevates in mid-range game and dribble-drive attack as well as finishes in traffic."
Bret McCormick from All-Star Girls Report and Brandon Clay from Prospect Nation has Richardson ranked as a 3-star athelte. Olson's evaluation report had her ranked at the 36th best shooting guard and the 176th best player in his system.
She was just one of nine freshman to be invited to the 2012 Nike Skills Academy-Northeast region. Richardson was also invited to the Michael T. White Top Ten All-American Camp in Atlanta.
Richardson has also played in the Hoops For A Cure All Star Game and the Roundball Classic.
A high and distinguished honor student who is a member of National Honor Society with a class rank of 10, Richardson plans on majoring in business.
