May 15, 2015 Former Duquesne guard/forward Orsi Szecsi ended her first season last month overseas. Szecsi plays for Aluinvent-DVTK Miskolc, a top-tier team in the Hungarian A League. The team is based in Miskolc, the third largest city in Hungary. Miskolc is approximately 180 miles northeast of Budapest.
Szecsi led Miskolc to a second place finish in the Hungarian Cup, falling to rival Uniqa Eurol 62-60 in Game 4 of the best-of-5 series. Miskolc finished the regular season 12-6, third place in the 10-team league.
For the season, Szecsi finished averaging 8.2 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. She also added 1.9 steals per game. Szecsi recorded a doubles-double - 13 points and 10 rebounds in Miskolc's 93-46 win over MKB Eurl.Vasas. Her season-highs were 18 points in a 77-44 win over Atomeromu and 11 rebounds against ZTE NKK in a 90-72 victory.
Szecsi became the first player to record a triple double in almost 19 years when she had 16 points, 12 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists at Morehead State on Nov. 2, 2013. The last Dukes player to record a triple-double was Korie Hlede on Dec. 8, 1994 (29 points/11 rebounds/11 assists). She scored her 1,000th career point against VCU on Jan. 4, 2014. She was part of the senior class with Wumi Agunbiade, Raegan Moore and Oditte Odisho that finished their careers with 88 victories, which is tied for best all-time. For her career, Szecsi started 85 of her 125 career games and finished 18th all-time in program history. Her 176 rebound ranked 10th all-time and her 85 blocks ranks seventh. A member of the 2011 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, Szecsi was named A-10 Rookie of the Week twice and A-10 Player of the Week once.
