Coach Al Alvine postgame quotes after the Duquesne women's soccer team 2-0 victory to win the Atlantic 10 Championship.
On how it feels to be Atlantic 10 Champions:
"It's pretty surreal actually, I always felt that if we could get into the tournament, we could make a good run. From the minute we got here, the kids attitudes was fantastic. The mentality was fantastic. I couldn't be happier for the kids -- they put a lot into this season and especially a lot into this tournament. This is a tremendous reward for them"
On Tournament MVP Vanessa Perdomo:
"It was great to see her get a shutout in the championship game. She deserved to get a clean sheet because of her performances over the weekend. She's been fantastic for us."
On the first goal off the corner kick:
"This was something we practiced. It's all about getting a good service into the box. It's all about waiting for the second and third chances that you get in those situations. For her efforts over the last few games, Abby Losco really deserved a goal and for her to get the game-winner in the championship game is a great reward for her."
On what they team talked about at halftime:
"In the first half, we were too quick to stop playing out of the back. Vanessa was playing big balls at midfield and one of Fordham's strengths is their ball movers at midfield. They are really good at getting on the end of first balls and second balls. So we wanted to get back to our game a little bit. We got here by playing possession soccer and keeping the ball. We got away from that in the first half -- maybe it was nerves playing in the championship game. But in the 2nd half, our possession took over."
On how it feels to prepare for the NCAA Tournament:
"It feels fantastic. Whoever it is, where we go, we're going to enjoy every minute of it. The kids are ecstatic and so is the coaching staff. We'll watch the selection show and we can't wait for our next game."
