A-10 Releases Women's Basketball Schedule

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has released its 2014-15 league schedule today. The A-10's 14 members will face each school once and three schools twice as part of the 16-game schedule.

Duquesne's home-and-home opponents include long-time rival St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's and Rhode Island.

The other four home opponents are A-10 newcomer Davidson, George Mason, Richmond, Saint Louis and VCU.

On the road, the Dukes will also face 2014 regular season champion Dayton, defending tournament champion Fordham, George Washington, La Salle and Massachusetts.

Conference play will begin at Rhode Island on Jan. 3rd. Duquesne will put an eight-game winning streak on the line against the Rams. Last season, the Dukes defeated URI three times - twice in the regular season and once in the A-10 Championship First Round. It was the first time since 1992 Duquesne defeated an opponent three times in one season.

The Dukes open the A-10 home slate against George Mason on Jan. 8th. Mason, who is in their second in the A-10, will be making their first trip to the Palumbo Center since Nov. 15, 1998, a 65-64 Duquesne victory. Last season at the Patriot Center, the Dukes were 64-45 winners.

On Jan. 11th, the Dukes travel to Dayton. The Flyers, who finished 14-2 in A-10 play last season, were NCAA tournament participants last season.

After the UD trip, Duquesne returns home for two games - Jan. 15th versus Saint Louis and Jan. 18th versus NCAA tournament participant Saint Joseph's. Last year, the Dukes recorded its 500th program victory after defeating the Billikens in St. Louis. For the second straight season, Duquesne and SJU will be televised nationally on the CBS Sports Network.

On Jan. 21st, the Dukes make their second trip to Washington, D.C. (Nov. 25th/Howard) to face WNIT participant George Washington. Duquesne has defeated GW six of the last seven times, dating back to 2010.

The Dukes return home on Jan. 24th to face Davidson. The last time the Wildcats visited Palumbo was on Nov. 27, 2011, an 84-53 win for Duquesne.

A two-game New York trip follows beginning with St. Bonaventure on Jan. 28th and continuing on Jan. 31st with Fordham. The Dukes and Bonnies split their season series last year, with the home team winning each game. Duquesne took two of three games from the Rams last year, winning both regular season games before falling to the eventual champions in the A-10 quarterfinals.

After a week off, Duquesne returns to action on Feb. 7th at home to play WNIT participant VCU. Last year, the Dukes and Rams split their season series last year, with the visiting team winning each game.

Duquesne plays at La Salle on Feb. 11th. The Dukes have won six of the last seven games against the Explorers dating back to 2008. Duquesne will remain on the road to face Massachusetts on Feb. 14th. The Dukes have won eight straight games over the Minutewomen dating back to 2008.

Duquesne returns to the Palumbo Center for two games beginning with Richmond on Feb. 18th. Last season, the Dukes set a single-season program record with seven straight A-10 victories after their 55-45 win over the Spiders. Rhode Island comes to Palumbo on Feb. 22nd.

The Dukes return to Philadelphia on Feb. 25th to take Saint Joseph's.

The regular season concludes at Palumbo with St. Bonaventure on Mar. 1st.

The 2015 14-team Atlantic 10 Championship will take place at the Richmond Coliseum March 4-8. The championship will open with a play-in game on Wednesday the 4th, followed by four first-round games on Thursday, March 5th. The four quarterfinal games will tip-off Friday, March 6th followed by the semifinal round on Saturday, March 7th which will be televised live nationally on CBS Sports Network. The finals, on Sunday March 8th, will air live on ESPNU beginning at 11:00 a.m.
