DAYTON, OHIO - B.J. Monteiro hit a career-high four 3-pointers to lead hot-shooting Duquesne to an 83-73 win at Dayton.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Dukes (13-9, 4-4), while Dayton dropped its third in a row to fall to 14-8 overall and 4-4 in the Atlantic 10.

McConnell, who finished with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists, put the Dukes up 13 on DU's seventh 3-pointer with 10:05 to go. Dayton opened the second half with a 12-1 run to pull within two on a Kavanaugh jumper.
UD took a 57-55 lead on a pair of Chris Johnson free throws at the 10:09 mark as Duquesne scored just six points in the first 10 minutes of the second half.
The Flyer lead lasted all of 17 seconds as Jones answered with a three-point play and back door layup off a pass from McConnell to put the Dukes up by three. DU built the lead to nine on a Andre Marhold layup with 6:13 left. Monteiro capped a 16-4 run with a 3-pointer that gave the Dukes a 71-61 advantage with 5:34 left.
DU held UD to one field goal over a 6:30 span in building the lead before Dillard converted a three-point play at the 5:14 mark.
Dayton cut it to four on another Dillard three-point play with 1:14 left. It would be the last points for the Flyers as DU closed the game with two free throws each from Monteiro and Eric Evans and steal and layup by McConnell with 20 seconds left for the final margin.
"I was really happy with our kids effort," said Duquesne coach Ron Everhart. "They had every reason to hang their heads after the La Salle loss [71-68 on Saturday]. It was all about being together and all about playing together. We did that tonight."
DU returns home to face Richmond on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
The Richmond game, which will be nationally televised by ESPNU, is the third annual Chuck Cooper Classic presented by PNC. The Classic honors the legacy of alumnus Chuck Cooper, the first African-American drafted by an NBA team. The Dukes will be wearing red throwback jerseys modeled after those worn by Cooper and his teammates in the late 1940s and 1950s.
In addition, as part of a "Red Out," fans will receive a commemorative Chuck Cooper T-shirt compliments of UPMC Health Plan, UPMC Sports Medicine and Trib Total Media.
Fewer than 300 tickets remained as of Wednesday.
NOTES
The 10-point margin of victory was Duquesne's largest at Dayton in a series that dates back to 1953 ... the Dukes are now 6-27 all-time at UD ... sixth-year head coach Ron Everhart owns two of the wins ... Duquesne, which lost 16 in a row to Dayton from 1997 through 2004, is 7-6 against the Flyers in the past 13 games.
Duquesne's 12 3-pointers were a season high, eclipsing an 11-of-18 effort in an 84-82 overtime loss to Saint Joseph's on Jan. 4.
The Dayton game was the first of five road games in the month of February for the Dukes ... DU's three February home games are against Richmond (Feb. 4), Fordham (Feb. 15) and Dayton (Feb. 22).
