2011-12 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Schedule Released

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After a 15-game non-conference schedule, concluding with James Madison on Jan. 3, Duquesne will play a 14-game conference schedule, with one home-and-home series with St. Bonaventure.

The Dukes will start league play on Jan. 7th on the road against the Bonnies. One of the league's most intense rivalries, DU and SBU have split their home-and-home series each of the past three seasons. St. Bonaventure is coming off a 21-win season and advanced to the second round of the WNIT.

Two-time defending conference champions Xavier comes to the Palumbo Center on Jan. 11th. The Musketeers lost the 2010 and 2011 A-10 Player of the Year Amber Harris and 2010 and 2011 A-10 Defensive Player of the Year Ta'Shia Phillips who were drafted fourth and eighth respectively in the WNBA. XU, who was a #2 seed at the NCAA Championship, fell in the second round.

Duquesne travels to Temple on Jan. 18th. The Owls return two all-conference players - Kristen McCarthy and Shea Peddy - from last year's 24-9, 13-1 team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship.

The Dukes return home for a pair of games against George Washington on Jan. 21st and Massachusetts Jan. 25th. Last season, DU recorded its first-ever win against GW at the Smith Center and had an overtime victory over the Minutewomen.

DU makes its second trip to Philadelphia on Jan. 28th when they face Saint Joseph's. The Hawks playing the WNIT last season.

On Feb. 1st, St. Bonaventure completes the home-and-home series when they come to the Palumbo Center.

Duquesne hits the road for a pair of games on Feb. 5th at Saint Louis and Feb. 8th at Rhode Island. The Dukes were victorious over both the Billikens and Rams last season.

A nationally televised game on Feb. 11th at the Palumbo highlights the schedule when the Dukes take on Charlotte. Duquesne has won two straight over the 49ers. The game will air on CBS Sports Network. Charlotte is coming off a program record 27-win season and advancing to the Final Four of the WNIT, falling to eventual champion Toledo.

The Dukes will go Bronx, N.Y. on Feb. 15th to face Fordham. Duquesne have won four straight over the Rams.

La Salle comes to the Palumbo Center on Feb. 18th. The Explorers were one of the league's most improved teams last year, increasing their conference win total from two to six.

The Dukes travel to Richmond on Feb. 22nd. The Spiders will be without the 2011 A-10 scoring champion Brittani Shells who graduated. Richmond played in the WNIT last season.

The regular season comes to a close at home against Dayton on Feb. 25th. The Flyers return Justine Ratterman who averaged 16.1 points per game last season.

The Atlantic 10 Championship will return to Philadelphia, hosted by Saint Joseph's at Hagan Arena on Mar. 2-5, 2012.

Fifth-year head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio returns four starters from last season's 24-9 team.
