Dukes Fall at #12 West Virginia, 3-1

The Duquesne men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision at #12 West Virginia Sunday afternoon in front of 1,077 fans at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.

The Mountaineers opened the scoring early with a goal off a free kick in the 18th minute. Another free kick in the 27th minute led to another goal as WVU took a 2-0 lead into the half.

The Dukes responded in the 53rd minute as sophomore Sean Gardner headed in a goal off a loft from junior Adam Clement to cut the deficit in half.

However, West Virginia found the net again in the 61st minute to secure the victory.

The Dukes managed eight shots in the contest, led by two by Joshua Patterson.

The Red and Blue return to action on Thursday, Sept. 22 as they travel to Robert Morris for a 4:00 pm kick-off.
